What I’ve Learned

This project has taught me a few things.
1. All governments are paranoid of others. Even the United States. If we weren’t, we wouldn’t be attacking innocent people all of the time.
2. Iran is an issue, but it can be dealth with peacefully if both sides are willing to try.
3. North Korea may be a “bad” state, but it has shown rather admirable qualities in keeping their promise after getting taken off the Terror List.

Perhaps it’s just me, but I hope to see the world at one point or another where there are no conflicts going on. I believe it is up the United States and the world’s “Super Power” to set that example and use extreme diplomacy instead of demonstrating extreme control.

I plan to keep following this issue, and state my opinions firmly when the topic is brought up. This project has educated me and opened a door to a completely different realm of thinking and has, for the first time, truly given me something I want to protest.

I also learned how to blog…generally I’m not much of a blogger outside of the realm of myspace and facebook, so this was kinda fun.

Geeky but true…

Even those these quotes are from an anime, I thought they were inspiring (at least to me and hopefully you). In the show, a war is taking place and nuclear weapons become a major plot factor. Call me geeky, but I think that whether its a war without nuclear weapons or with, these are appropriate either way.

Different newspapers offer different ideas on each subject. I’m finding that I prefer using news sites I’m familiar with, however, there is more than just MSNBC and the other sites I’ve been to I’m finding offer very interesting articles that offer different view points on the issues. It’s helpful.

Hmm…

I feel like I’m being repetitive though. I’ll have to think of new ideas as new articles come about. Still, my view on the subject is growing stronger and stronger and I’m finding that I dislike the world’s “if you don’t do this we’ll do this” garbage that’s taking place, whether it’s with Iran, Korea or the US and any other countries involved.

Success? The United States has official taken N. Korea off of their terror list. But of course, there are two sides to every coin. While from one side I believe that this is a positive thing and N. Korea will keep their word, I also understand the potential dangers of trusting them with something so drastic as nuclear reactors and weapons and what not. Then again, I also don’t trust the US in keeping their word either. Who are we to say who is part of an axis of evil or not? Who are we to say that you can’t make weapons for your own defense. While I do know that the track record for N. Korea isn’t full of A’s in the diplomatic or peace department, and I do not condone the creation of nuclear weapons in ANY country, this is still a positive step forward, at least somewhat.

According to the article, “Russia committed to preventing Iran from attaining nuclear arms,” Russia, like the US is also attempting to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons in an effort to keep the east safe from extremists. This is potentially a positive event that could ultimately help keep extremists at bay and also help make the east a peacful place. However, their alliance with Isreal is most likely what is causing this quest to stop Iran from gaining nukes, thus, while there still remains potential for a positive outcome, there are also larger negative consquences.

In the development of this blog, I am finding that the United States loves to interfere with other countries and their nuclear programs. True, it is for the greater good, and ultimately secures the US’s place as the biggest super power in the world, but it sends out a controlling message and causes other countries to dislike us. For example, North Korea, Russia and Venezuela are clearly at odds with the United States getting involved with their programs. I believe that this could have very negative effects on the world, and create even more tension in the world’s nuclear progressing world.
